After tying Joe Horn’s franchise record for receiving yards in a single season, Michael Thomas decided that wasn’t good enough. Just a few plays after tying the record, Thomas hauled in a six-yard pass from quarterback Teddy Bridgewater early in the fourth quarter.
Thomas came into today’s game closing in on the record, needing just 23 yards to surpass Horn’s benchmark. Horn even wore a Michael Thomas jersey as he showed up to the game to witness Thomas break his long-standing record.
Thomas is quickly becoming one of the greatest wide receivers in Saints history. Earlier this season, Thomas broke another franchise record as he hauled in the most receptions in a single season. Before kickoff of today’s matchup, Thomas caught a league-leading 120 receptions for 1,376 yards and nine touchdowns.
The Saints are lucky to have a dynamic wide receiver in Thomas. Having a guy like him on the team for the playoffs will be a huge key for success.
