On Tuesday morning the Saints announced another intended move after news broke about their intent to re-sign quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. The team intends to sign former Vikings’ running back Latavius Murray.
NFL Insider for ESPN Adam Schefter broke the news on Twitter.
As Schefter said in the Tweet, this likely means the end of running back Mark Ingram’s time in New Orleans.
Murray intends to sign a four-year, $14.4 million dollar deal with the Saints on March 13 at 4:00 P.M. ET when players can officially sign with their new teams.
With the addition of Murray and the likely loss of Ingram, current star running back Alvin Kamara will have another running back to pair his talents with. I do expect Kamara to get more carries and opportunities than he did with Ingram in the backfield, however, I anticipate Murray to still play a similar role to Ingram as a power back.
