On Tuesday morning, it was announced that quarterback Teddy Bridgewater intends to re-sign with the New Orleans Saints. The move can’t become official until March 13 at 4:00 P.M. ET.

Jane Slater, a reporter for the NFL Network, first reported the news.

However, Ian Rapoport, National Insider for the NFL Network, later reported on television that the Dolphins had an interest in Bridgewater but never made an offer.

The details of the signing have yet to be announced but the Saints organization and the fan base are extremely happy to bring back one of their own.

The Saints traded a third-round pick to the New York Jets to acquire Bridgewater last season and he immediately fit into the locker room. Several Saints’ players, including wide receiver Michael Thomas, have expressed their admiration for Bridgewater and what he brings to the team on and off of the field.

Head coach Sean Payton said at the NFL Scouting Combine that he views Bridgewater as the heir apparent to current starting quarterback Drew Brees. Brees can’t play football forever as much as Saints’ fans wish he could. Bridgewater could serve as a very nice eventual replacement.
