With the Saints and Eagles preparing to face each other, I thought it would be a great idea to see how Madden 19 predicts the game will go. The results certainly didn’t disappoint.
The Saints downright dominated the Eagles in the simulation with a final score of 34-10.
Drew Brees’ arm was a major contributor to the Saints’ strong performance. Brees lit up the Eagles as he completed 61% of his passes for 256 yards and four touchdowns. With the Eagles having the 30th ranked pass defense in the league, it’s possible that we see similar numbers in real life.
Running backs Mark Ingram II and Alvin Kamara had great games as well. Ingram II gained 99 yards from scrimmage and a receiving touchdown while Kamara added 124 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns through the air.
Wide receiver Michael Thomas places the dagger in the Eagles’ heart as he caught a 12-yard pass for a touchdown late in the 4th quarter. Fellow wide receiver Tre’Quan Smith caught 5 receptions for 58 yards which were 2nd most by any of the players in the game.
The Saints’ offensive line had a great game as well as they only allowed 2 sacks against a phenomenal Eagles’ defensive line.
The Saints’ 2nd-ranked rush defense came out in full force for this game as they only allowed 66 team rushing yards to the Eagles. The defensive line of the Saints also played well as defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins earned two sacks while fellow defensive tackle David Onyemata and defensive end Cameron Jordan each added one sack to the team’s total.
The dominance continued for the Saints as the pass defense shut down Eagles’ quarterback Nick Foles. Foles was held to a completion percentage of 54% for 163 yards, one touchdown, and an interception by Saints’ safety Vonn Bell. Bell also added five total tackles and one pass deflection.
The reliable Will Lutz was two for two on field goals with a long of 53 yards. He was also perfect for the four extra points throughout the game.
The dome was likely deafening as the Saints virtually obliterated the Eagles. Hopefully, Saints fans get to witness a similar result when their team takes on the Eagles at 3:40 p.m. CT.
