Saints Still Have Plenty to Play for in Week 17

After the Saints secured a playoff spot and a first-round bye earlier in the season, the team defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers in week 16 to officially clinch the number one playoff seed in the NFC. So, with the top playoff seed secured, you may be asking what else the Saints can accomplish by winning their week 17 matchup.

If the New Orleans Saints can defeat the Carolina Panthers today, the team would break a franchise single-season record for regular season wins. The current record is 13 wins, which the team earned throughout the 2009 season.

The Saints will attempt to accomplish this without their star quarterback Drew Brees as the team has already named backup Teddy Bridgewater to be the starter.

When the New Orleans Saints reached 13 wins in 2009, they also reached the ultimate goal of a Super Bowl. With this current team loaded down with star power and swagger, the Saints have a distinct possibility to recreate that magical 2009 season for all their fans in the who dat nation.
