With Teddy Bridgewater set to take over the quarterback duties for the New Orleans Saints in week 17, Drew Brees has secured his spot at the top of another record list.

With his regular-season finale coming last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Brees set a new NFL single-season record for completion percentage, completing a remarkable 74.4 percent of his passes. The previous record holder was none other than Drew Brees when he completed 72 percent of his passes way back in 2017.

Brees also set a career high for quarterback rating (QBR) at 115.7 and a career low for interceptions at 5. His previous highest QBR was 110.6 in 2011 while his next lowest interception total came in 2004 when he only threw seven interceptions as a member of the San Diego Chargers.

Brees’ high efficiency this season is a massive ingredient to the Saints’ success throughout this season. The team sits atop the NFC playoff picture and currently holds the league’s best record at 13-2.

Brees also finds himself in a tight race with Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes for the league’s top honor of MVP. Brees’ record-setting campaign certainly boosts his chances of finally earning the coveted honor.
